My little foodies!

So it's been a while since I have entered the blogging world...4 months to be exact. It was a crazy end of the school year and a crazier summer! But we are not slowing down for a minute.

From our family trip to Williamsburg (pics to follow) to residing our house to all the daily activities that come with a 4 and 6 (almost 7 yikes) year olds. It's been a little stressful in the Holland household, but we are having fun too! And, I do have so much to share!!

One of the activities that my kids requested to do was to make our very own banana ice cream. It looked super easy when we saw it on Disney Jr so we thought we would take a chance at it.

Step 1. Cut up the bananas

Isn't she the cutest little helper???

Step 2. Put all the cut up bananas in baggies and throw them in the freezer for a while

The longer you keep them in the freezer the better.
Our first attempt was only for a few hours and they just weren't ready.

Step 3. Put the frozen banana slices in a food processor and let it do the job!

Step 4. Enjoy!!

This was a super yummy treat on a very hot July afternoon!!! The kids added some strawberries and loved it! It melts fast so eat immediately!

Hand-made Love

So I have two amazing friends who recently had babies...
One a girl
One a boy
Which makes me very excited...
I love doing handmade presents especially for new babies.
I am all about the cute and simple yet functional...I never want to give a present that is just for show. My hope is that whether its a blanket, a lovey, or a burp clothe that it is used and useful for my friend and their new little bundle of joy!
But I have to say that I am running behind. Both of these bundles of joy have been around for a few months now and I need to get on the ball!!!!

So a sneak peak is in order!!!!

Aren't they just adorable??!!??
I love that I have a pile of pink and a pile of blue! Insert a squeal here!
I will be posting once the projects are done and delivered so stay tuned

Handy Friends

So I know I haven't posted in almost two months...and boy do I have a bunch of things that I need to get out there when I get the time to think them out.
But I just had to share what a great friend just made for my son.
First I have to say that one thing I love are homemade things...whether it be costumes for Halloween or furniture that will last a good long time.
So my friend Jim, who is very handy, offered to build me a much needed toy chest for my son! I can't tell you how excited I was to have him do this.
So here it is...

Now I just need to reorganize Jake's room. Let the fun begin!

I Love Candles

Soy Candle 16 oz. Mason JarA friend on facebook turned me on to her homemade soy candles. I have been hearing for years that regular candles have toxines in them and that they really aren't good to burn in your home. I also have found that there is a large amount of soot left after burning a candle, especially in our bathrooms. I don't know if this will have less soot but just knowing that it is nontoxic makes it worth while to me. You can find them on Etsy.com and purchase them by the jar for $12.00 or 6 for $68.00 (with free shipping on the bundle). I just love thought of having my house filled with a good fragrance. Especially after a good Spring Cleaning! Just consider this Pure Joy!!!
